About National Museum of Rural Life 25th Anniversary Day

Come along to celebrate 25 years of the National Museum of Rural Life.

Enjoy the special activities scheduled throughout the day that showcase the museum displays and life on our working farm.

Activities will include:

At the Museum

Enjoy a guided tour of our impressive Combine Store and let the kids loose on our mini ride-on tractors. As you arrive, view our specially assembled tractor display before they take a tour of the farm on the Tractor Run.

At the Farm

Watch our team prepare three of our star animals – a Clydesdale horse, a Dutch Spotted sheep and an Ayrshire cow – as we dress them as we would for stock judging at an agricultural show. Help pick the best dressed animal, join the judging from 13:00. Also, enjoy a bit of country craft at the Farmhouse by adding a rag to our rag rug.

Tractor Run

A highlight of the day will be the Tractor Run at 15:00 with new and vintage vehicles brought together for our special celebration by our friends and neighbours.  Watch the 25 tractors drive the loop to the farm in convoy from designated vantage points at the Museum, Farm and along the footpath.

The Farm Explorer will be running on the day – enjoy a trip up to the farm on our tractor trailer. Limited spaces available.
