About In Bloom

Play and interact with musical light sculpture 'In Bloom' at the National Museum of Rural Life.

On display in the museum’s Garden Detectives gallery, 'In Bloom'  was developed by art studio Kumquat Lab to represent a plant being pollinated.

The sculpture resembles the stems of a plant with ten luminous spheres as its flowers. Pass your hands under the flower-spheres to ‘pollinate’ them, and watch  as they change colour and play a musical note.

See how the colour of each sphere changes to mirror the rising notes they play, and interact with the sculpture alone or with others for a unique light and sound experience for all ages.
