About Sustainable Skies
Join us for family activities across four days at the National Museum of Flight, as part of Edinburgh Science Festival.
As well as family-friendly fun, you'll also learn about the future challenges faced by flight and their solutions.
Sustainable Skies Tour
Times: 11:00 – 11:20 & 14:00 – 14:20, drop-in.
Join a guided tour of the Civil Aviation Hangar to find out more about the future of sustainable flight.
Shared Resources Challenge
Times: 11:00 – 13:00 & 14:00 – 16:00, sign up on the day.
Your party has crashed in the jungle. Working together, you must choose which equipment to take with you to escape the jungle. Will you do better as a group or on your own?
Sustainable Trail
Time: 11:00 – 14:00, drop-in.
Take a picture of the trail quiz questions using your phone then find the answers as you explore the museum. When you’re finished, you can check your answers at the Boeing 707 in the Concorde Hangar.
Accessibility and facilities
We want everyone who comes to our museums to enjoy their time with us and make the most of their visit.
Wheelchair access
Airfield
The site is wheelchair accessible. There is wheelchair access to the Object Store.
The hangars have ramped access, however, due to the historic nature of our collection, Concorde is not accessible to everyone.
Borrow a wheelchair
You can loan a wheelchair free of charge from the information desk at the museum shop. Please note that wheelchairs cannot be booked in advance.
Toilets
There are toilets around the museum, which include accessible toilets and baby changing facilities.
There is no Changing Places toilet at the museum.
Check the museum map or ask a member of staff for the nearest toilets.
Assistance dogs
Guide dogs, hearing dogs and other recognised assistance dogs are admitted.
