Physical description

Papier-mâché, gesso, polychrome painted on both sides and lacquered; on the outside an interior scene with two men in the foreground, studying a book; behind them a woman with a child on her knees and another woman opposite; outside a man walking past from the left; in the background tall houses including a church-like building, surrounded by trees, and hills in the far distance; above the scene an angel descending on a cloud; on the inside a couple, standing and embracing each other, surrounded by a dog and another animal; the large window in the background with curtains and a view of blossoming trees, hills and clouds; one corner of the mirror case cover slightly chipped; lacquer on the exterior cracked.
