Description

Circular silver toilet box decorated with Procris giving her husband Cephalus a dog and a javelin derived from illustrations to Ovid’s Metamorphoses by the Italian artist-engraver Antonio Tempesta, with reeded lip and foot and a running design with cupids among acanthus sprays in repoussé around the side: English, London, c. 1680
