First World War trail

Ages: 8–11 years 

Step into the shoes of First World War recruits arriving at Edinburgh Castle. Starting with the Esplanade and finishing at the Scottish National War memorial, discover what it might have been like to be a recruit at Edinburgh Castle.

Castle Quest trail

Ages: 9-12 years

Discover Edinburgh Castle through maths with our online trail. How was maths used to build the castle? How did the radius of a circle help people survive a siege? A paper copy of the trail is also available at the entrance of Edinburgh Castle or in the National War Museum.
