Specific responsibility: Technology Collections.

Research interest/expertise: Industrial manufacture, particularly of the iron industry in the 19th century; social history of industry and technology; printing history and culture; colonial histories and legacies.

Georgina joined National Museums Scotland in October 2022 and is responsible for the technology collections, which cover a wide spectrum of objects relating to industry, engineering, communications, and agriculture.

Prior to this, Georgina was Senior Curator at the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust, where she worked for nine years. During that time, she developed a particular interest in nineteenth century iron foundry production, with a focus on decorative and architectural ironwork and associated trade literature. In 2021-2022 she completed a Headley Fellowship with Art Fund on the subject. Former roles also include working at the National Trust and Lindisfarne Gospels Durham.

Georgina has a degree in Ancient History and Archaeology, and a postgraduate degree in Museum Studies, both from Newcastle University. She sits on the Steering Group for the Centre for Printing History and Culture and the Council for the National Heritage Ironwork Group.
