About Injecting Hope: The Race for a COVID-19 Vaccine exhibition visit
Injecting Hope is a new, free exhibition at the National Museum of Scotland that presents the science behind the COVID-19 vaccine.
Injecting Hope runs from Saturday 25 January to Sunday 27 April 2025.
What will my pupils do?
Pupils will get the opportunity to:
- Discover the rapid research, development, and delivery of the vaccine
- Learn about the science behind vaccine creation and global roll-out logistics
- Explore historic objects and modern innovations from the National Museums Scotland collection
- Understand how these items contributed to the global COVID-19 response
Exhibition highlights include:
- A syringe belonging to Alexander Wood, the Scottish inventor of the world's first hypodermic syringe
- Scotland's blue vaccine appointment envelopes, designed to stand out and be prioritised
- Voices from Glasgow's African diaspora discussing vaccine hesitancy in the community

Availability
Available Monday to Friday during Edinburgh school term time. Check your booking for timings and arrive at the museum at least 15 minutes before the start of your exhibition visit slot.
Morning slots: 10:15-11:15
Afternoon slots: 13:30-14:30
Please note there will be members of the public in the exhibition during school visits. We ask that all school groups comply with our behaviour policy and show courtesy to other visitors.

Booking Terms and Conditions
Cancellation Policy
- National Museums Scotland reserve the right to charge a fee for short notice cancellations or no-shows.
- Bookings cancelled less than 2 weeks prior to the visit will incur an administration fee of £25.
- A charge of £50 will apply to no-show or last-minute cancellations.
- In certain circumstances National Museums Scotland may waive the administration fee.
- Cancellations should be notified in writing to schools@nms.ac.uk.
