We need your support to protect our museums and objects in our care, so the stories they hold can inspire people now and in the future.

People's Postcode Lottery

Thanks to support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery, we are able to create opportunities for people of all ages, abilities and walks of life to enjoy our museums and connect with inspiring collections.

We are very grateful to the Postcode Culture Trust for enabling us to create these opportunities. At this time of great uncertainty, support from players of People’s Postcode Lottery is more vital than ever to ensure we can continue to protect our collections and share their stories.

Engaging visitors with climate change

Support from players helps us deliver activities to engage people in a range of environmental and ecological issues, to encourage debate, and to inspire change.

A key part of this programme will be our upcoming free display Scotland’s Climate Challenge at the National Museum of Scotland. The exhibition will look at some of the unique projects happening in Scotland and the individuals making them happen, showcasing Scotland as a centre of innovation and research against a political backdrop that has set some of the most ambitious climate targets in the world.

Running world-class museums

In addition, support from players is contributing to the significant cost of running the National Museum of Scotland, the National Museum of Flight and the National Museum of Rural Life. Lockdowns and reduced visitor capacities have had an enormous impact on our museums, with income from exhibition tickets, shops, cafes and donations all reduced.

Thanks to support from players of People's Postcode Lottery, we have been able to offer more to visitors, including the exhibition Brick Wonders at the National Museum of Flight and a new Willow Sculpture Trail at the National Museum of Rural Life.
